Abstract Submission
Process & Guidelines

Abstract Submission is now OPEN.

The sharing of knowledge and expertise forms an integral element of the Irish Spine Society's Annual Meeting - Advancing Care Through Clinical Excellence. We are inviting abstract submissions for both oral and poster presentations to support international and national guest speakers.

All submitted abstracts will be considered for either an oral 5-minute podium presentation or a poster presentation for the conference. This microsoft form must be used to submit your abstract for consideration. It is not possible to submit your abstract via email. All abstracts must be submitted online using the online form.   

Abstract submission closes: October 7th 2026.

PLEASE ADHERE TO THE ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

The word limit for abstracts is 2,500 characters or 250 words (excluding the title, authors, organisation/institution details)

When writing your abstract, please ensure to make note of the following:

• Abstracts should be text only. Tables and images are NOT permitted.

• REMOVE any reference to authors and institutions in the title and body of abstract

• DO NOT mention sponsors, commercial names of medicines or products

• We recommend that submissions are clear with subheadings (Introduction, Method, Results, Conclusion)

• Unless using common abbreviations, include the full phrase with the abbreviation in parentheses the first time it appears

• Please ensure anonymity is protected so that any research participants, institutions or patients are not identifiable.

Authors:

• Please ensure that the spelling of all contributing authors' names is correct before submitting your abstract.

• Author names should be included as family name followed by given name with appropriate initial caps and separated by commas.

• The presenting author should be listed first and identified with an asterisk (*).

Affiliations:

• Affiliation numbers should be included even for abstracts with one or more contributors.

• Affiliations will include the primary employer or institution names (in English, not abbreviated), and location (city, state or province, country).

• Omit department names in affiliations (ie, school, lab, division, institute) to prevent duplication.

• Affiliations should be numbered sequentially in the order mentioned and not duplicated.

• Each affiliation must be assigned to an author.

Conflict of Interest Disclosure:

As part of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) CPD accreditation process, all speakers and individuals involved in educational content are required to disclose any relevant financial relationships with ineligible companies within the past 24 months.

An ineligible company is any entity whose primary business is producing, marketing, selling, re-selling or distributing healthcare products used by or on patients.

Please disclose any relevant relationship, whether or not you believe it represents an actual conflict of interest. This enables the Irish Spine Society to comply with RCSI CPD requirements.

Submission Review and Notification:

All abstracts will be reviewed soon after the submission deadline. Submitters will be notified of the outcome by email once the review process has been completed. Presenting authors must register and attend the conference. Registration is complimentary for the presenting author of each accepted oral or poster abstract. The presenting author will receive a link to register free of charge following acceptance.

Only one author per accepted abstract is eligible for complimentary registration.
